Hi Jerry,
The best way to remove burrs from your Scottie is with a soft slicker brush. I like the Millers Forge brand: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?pq=effect+affect&hl=en&sugexp=gsihc&cp=18

Some slicker brushes are labeled soft, yet the bristles are firm. You will want to purchase a brush that has soft rubber where the wire bristles protrude. The rubber should have some "give" when you brush your dog, otherwise it will be too firm and can hurt him when you brush out his fur.
Thank-you,
Becca
