Location of places where you can go to groom your dog yourself in Manhattan, NY

I have a friend visiting me with her dog on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and she wants to know where there is a convenient do-it-yourself place she can go to groom her dog tomorrow, October 29th, 2009. She says other cities have places like this, but I can't find any listed in Manhattan, much less on the Upper West Side. Thank you. R. Waddell

You are a long way away but thanks to the wonders of the Internet I think I can help you.

Most do-it-yourself places are dog wash and not complete grooming services.  It this is what your friend is looking for I came up with two likely places.

The first one is Premier Car and Dog Wash - www.premiercarwash.com.  This is an outdoor wash located within a car wash.  It doesn't look like any drying facility is available.  So if your weather has turned "Fallish" like it is here, this is probably not going to work.

The other one I found is an indoor facility located in a Doggy Daycare center.  The business name is "Dogwash".  It is in Greenwich Village and the phone number is (212) 673-3290.  Their website is - www.dogwashnyc.com.  The business does not require a membership to use their facility.  From the website I think this is much more likely to be what your friend is looking for.  I did notice that the last wash is at 6:15 PM.  So plan to go earlier in the day.
