Question
My 16 week old Aus.Labradoodle had some matting in his coat.  my vet recommended that we have the groomer try to comb them out.  Instead the groomer shaved the spots and my puppies face!  How long before his coat grows back and he looks like a doodle again instead of a poodle?

Answer
Well if you think it's bad now just wait... this Designer breed is the bane of many groomers existence! If the breeder you got it from was remiss in informing you of just how costly and difficult a coat to maintain these dogs have, I can only say you wouldn't be the first.
If you want any kind of coat left on the dog at all it has to be groomed at the very least every 4 weeks. In between you should be brushing and combing on almost a daily basis. And not just a little fluff and puff here and there, but like you better buy a table and the correct equipment - buy a video and get to work. If you bathe it yourself and don't remove the matts before the bath you will have a pelt of felt in no time flat and NO! creme rinse won't replace brushing and combing afterward.
My advice is to let the groomer shave the dog down and start from scratch- it'll grow back - FAST. Get on a schedule with the groomer and STICK TO IT! I can't emphasize enough the importance of consistency when it come to this breed. It matts if the humidity is high... Also keep it short so that if you need to bathe it in between you'll be able to without the matting problem.
And buy the way- underneath that hair it will always look like a poodle- cause it is.
be prepared either way to spend time and/or money on this dog. Hair grows fast- 8 weeks and it'll be a mess again
