Question
What type of clippers and blade numbers would be good to purchase for my Dorkie who has wirey long hair?

Answer
Hi Nicole
Sorry it took so long to reply- I was away at a wedding.
What the heck is a Dorkie? A dacshund yorkie mix?
The clipper is going to ruin the wirey hair - but if you want to keep it in a puppy type haircut you will need a basic professional clipper such as an Oster or Andis or Laube. The blades are the tricky part depending on how long you want the coat. A basic all over puppy cut can be done with a #3 blade or a #15 with a snap on comb that leaves any where from 1/2 to 1 inch all over. You will have to practice; going with the direction in which it grows. You finish off the haircut with a straight edge scissor, by rounding off the feet and trimming the ears, tail and belly following the line of the body. A metal comb and pin brush or slicker are also necessary.
Thinning shears are really helpful in blending the rough edges.
hope this is useful.
good luck
