Question
MY POM IS 3, I COMB HER, FEED HER WELL BUT IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO how get my pom to have a nice healthy shiney coat????!

Answer
It sounds like you are off to a good start. The things *you* can do to make sure you are doing everything for your pup.

1. Make sure there is no underlying medical issue causing a lack of hair growth. Next vet visit voice your concern about sparse or dull coat and he/she may have some specific recommendations based on your dog's history.

2. Shaving your dog (unsure if you have before, but wanted to mention it) will cause the coat to not come in the same so be aware if you do have it shaved (lion cut, etc) then it will possibly not have that wonderful, original shiny sheen and may take years to get back to that way.

3. Diet. Of course what her diet contains can have a lot to do with her coat condition. Make sure you have a diet that has Omega fatty acids and a primary ingredient that is meat (not wheat) for the protein. As a last resort you can even buy fish oil in the vitamin aisle and drizzle that over her food to help with skin/coat issues.

4. Grooming. Brushing is more important than bathing. If you bathe frequently, you will have a duller, more brittle coat...but if you brush her regularly you will be distributin her natural oils and that will help to stimulate more growth.

5. Lastly, sometimes the dog is not genetically inclined to have a full and luscious coat. Even dogs within the same litter can have different density as well as less shiny coats.

Knowing you are doing everything you can, just make sure she is happy healthy and not overweight and give it time! Even with introduction of these different options, it takes a while for the new coat growth to show... even as long as a year.

I hope this helps! Good Luck.
