a snappy shitzu

my dad has an 8yr old shitzu who is very snappy if you want to do anything to her,my dad is frightened to clean her up and wipe her bottom, and now he has a dilemma when taking her to be groomed in that she has bitten the last lady.is there something my dad can buy to put over her face so she cannot bite when she needs to be cleaned & cut. obviously with a shitzu they have a flat face & i presume this will limit what you can use

I would recommend finding a groomer who is experienced with agressive dogs and is willing to give this shih tzu a try. Get the hair cut nice and short (even if you dont like it that way, it will keep the bum clean for longer, and is a longer wait till the next hair cut). There is groomers out there who are willing to work with difficult dogs, its just as matter of finding one. Phone around, and it may take a few groom shops to find the groomer you want! As far as home grooming goes, if it makes it easier, take your dog to the groomer more often so home grooming is not needed, or have someone hold the dogs head, while the other cleans the bum. I have yet to see a muzzle stay on a shihtzus face, so I do not recommend them, because they usually just slide off those cute smashed in faces! Good luck to you, I hope this helps you out.
