A-5 Oster clippers

I just bought a new clipper the A-5 golden and I can't get them to cut my dogs hair,and I tried everything I know. I have a poodle and I wash and blow dry her and brush her out before trying to clip her hair so there are no tangles, do you have any suggestions, they cut nothing!Am I doing something wrong with the clippers I oiled them , but the clippers keep slowing down when I try to cut the hair.

I have been using these clippers for 20 years and the only thing I can think of is
a. the blade is not on correctly
b. it is a faulty blade.
Which blade are you using- they come with #10 which should shave your dog to the skin, even if there are matts it should go right under them.
Has anyone ever taught you how to use them? You hold it like a pencil- right? and scoop or glide in straight lines.
I would really check the position of the blade then try another blade if that does not work. They have to snap shut tightly
