Tear Stains on Bichon

Question
We have a 13-week old Bichon female, and she is getting the tear stains under her eyes.  I have tried the wipes from the pet store, but they don't seem to work well, and she doesn't care for them.  Our prior Bichon never had the tear stains, so I am not sure how to address these.  A few folks have mentioned the Angel Eyes product, but I wanted to see what you thought first.  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Lisa,
Unfortunately this is not uncommon. You were lucky with you first dog. It is a chemical reaction of your dogs ph level when the fluids hit the air. No wipes, shampoos, or remedies that do not include antibiotics work.
Angel eyes is a low dose antibiotic - tylan. Prescribed in small doses by some vets to add to your dogs food.
Personally I would not give it to my dog. Keep the eyes clean and flushed and short. Allergies, dust, - all the common allergens can increase and cause it. Food allergies as well.
Some people just have to give it but it is really purely cosmetic.
If it gets really bad consult your vet.
good luck!
