Cleaning dogs teeth

Question
My dog's teeth are terribly dirty. I have tried to clean them, but pomeranians are very feisty. He shakes his head away everytime. What should I do?

Answer
Akari,
The best thing I can tell you is to give him greenies.
I would recommend one every other day no more than two in a
twenty four hour period. Of course get the ones appropriate
for his size.
I use them on my Yorkies and they work great. I also give
them to my clients who have dogs that don't like to get their teeth brushed.
If you give your dog both wet and dry food try feeding
them separate , making sure he gets his wet first. The dry
will take off any wet food and tartar build up from his teeth.
If your dog doesn't like the greenies their are other
products in a hard bone form that are great teeth cleaners.
But I swear by the greenies!!
If all your dog gets is canned wet food his teeth will
remain that way. I always recommend a balance of the two.
Each form their own benefit for the dogs.
Unfortunately if he doesn't like to get his teeth brushed
he probably won't ever let you. But if you are willing to
try again use doggy toothpaste either beef&cheese flavor or
the mint. He might like one of them and start opening up to
the idea.
Good luck and God Bless !!
