Question
I have a Pomeranian that I have had for a year and a half now, which is just about how old she is.  Approximately a month ago she started ripping out her fur.  She still constantly does this.  Is it her shedding her winter coat?  Or is there any other reason I should be considered about?  Thank you for your help!

Answer
This is a common problem with the sweet little balls of fur. Poms blow coat approximately twice a year usually around the birthday it is kind of a little b-day present for the owners. Other times they blow this undercoat is after being under sedation for a surgery or teeth cleaning. Another time for the coat change is when we give our babies their bath we use warm water and hot dryer settings. This releases the hair from the shaft which causes hair to come out in clumps. Bath your pom in just barely warm to cool water and use your dryer on hair or low heat. This should help some but for the most part enjoy the little gifts your baby leaves around the house.
