Chihuahua Grooming Clippers

Question
I have a small Chihuahua (about 3 pounds).  What is a well priced and effective set of clippers to use when grooming her hair?  The large clippers 'bite' her and can even rip the skin, yet the really small clippers (some designed for grooming ears) do not have enough power and are ineffective.  Please help!  Thanks!!

Answer
While I really believe in learning how to maintain your own dog this story scares the heck out of me.
I can't even imagine what you are doing that clippers are biting her! What on earth are you doing clipping a Chihuahua in the first place?
If this is a serious request let me just say that you get what you pay for and good clippers (not the dollar store special!) - when used correctly will never "bite" a dog- the person using them is just inexperienced and does not know how to control them and/or is using the incorrect blade.
Since you didn't tell me what clipper or blade you are using, this is what I am likely to conclude.
It is all about control not so much about size.
Try using a brush and comb and leave the clippers out of it. At the most try some thinning shears to remove bulk. Even long haired Chihuahuas don't need that much hair cutting unless you are neglecting the comb and then you either need to take the little thing to a professional so you don't do some serious psychological damage where nobody will be able to touch the dog because of fear.
Everybody has heard the nasty Chihuahua stories - don't add to the history.

While I am sure your intentions are good, it takes only one accident to freak these  little spirits out- alas I speak from 20 years of experience with many many different breeds of dogs. I have had more than my share of dogs who have been ruined by one "off" moment and the smaller they are the more likely they are to exhibit this. All the dogs I work with are treated better than most humans which is why they hire me, we all agree on that. Just be careful when it comes to using the heavy guns, less can be more in this case- unlike the Tibetan Terrier question right after yours... you should not need to use clippers on this dog.
