QuestionWhat is the best way to groom my Newfoundland's matted coat?
AnswerHi Kathy
well there are no magic bullets for this- It's called elbow grease. If the matts are too far gone, do yourself and your dog a favor and shave him down.
Regular - and I mean weekly- brushing and combing are the only way you can keep it under control. No 2 ways about it. A monthly bath and blow out is basic if your dog lives in your home and is not an outside dog.
Matt rakes and shedders are only good for small problems. You have a big dog- it takes big commitment.
good luck
