Question
I have a 4 year old female corgi mix.  She's been on Frontline Plus for about 3 months.  I'm still seeing a few fleas on her and she's still scratching a lot.  I'm using the correct dosage for her weight.  I'm not sure what else to do or to use.  Should I switch her to something else like Advantage?

Answer
Jamie, I was speaking with a friend of mine today who is a veterinarian. We were talking about the pests on our dogs. It seems that some of the chemicals are not working as well as they should. We all spend the money on these wonderful new products and within a couple of months and sometime years they stop working. We are seeing in both of our business.
It seems that fleas are becoming immune to the ingredients of the name brand ointments. We don't have all the answers to the battle.
I have been using some citrus based shampoos to help kill the pests and help sooth the irritated skin. It is helping but, ticks are a whole different story.
You may try the Advantage and see if this helps with your problem. I use a product called Capstar, it is a pill that I give my dogs. I give them one pill, it kills fleas in a 24hr period and then I follow up with Frontline Plus. This way I am killing everything on the dogs and the Frontline kills anything else that gets on them later. You can purchase the pill from your veterinarian. It is given by weight and may be given daily if necessary.
I wish I had the answers to help you more. I know if a flea jumps off one of by customers dogs on to me I'm itchy all over so I feel for the poor dogs suffering from several. Hope I've helped and good luck!
