Question
We recently adopted a terrier mix from the shelter and he is getting more uncomfortable as the weather gets warmer. If I get his wiry coat trimmed will it grow back.and will a trim rather than a full cut down even help? Thank you.

Answer
Thanks for adopting this spunky monkey! I'm sure the terrier in him will give you many laughs.
As far as his coat goes if you clipper it, that changes the texture eventually. If you like the wiry texture and can't strip it my advice is to shave him down for the summer then by next fall he will start having the wiry jacket again. I don't know the rest of the mix so he probably has a double coat which means that will grow first and the wire under it.  Since he is a pet talk to your groomer about using a Mars coat king to thin it out. That may be enough for now then then shave him in June, as it grows back over the summer keep using the Mars coat king. They can use thinning shears to set a pattern and give a more natural appearance.
They do get relief from shorter hair.
good luck.
