Question
QUESTION: We have a 3 year old hairless CC male.  We have been shaving his face since he was a puppy with great fuss each time and no real improvements.  I think what we need is a trimmer that doesn't vibrate too much and isn't very loud.  If you have any advice on grooming CC's, we would appreciate it!

ANSWER: This is a sensitive area on  any dog so it is more than important you get a good quality clipper and blade. Surgical blades are a cleaner cut but require some knowledge of and experience with the problem and the equipment.
There are cordless machines that are quieter and, the good ones are carried by the better trade catalogs. Keep the blade cool with blade coolant or frequent blade changes.
Good luck

QUESTION: Thanks Elizabeth.  We had been looking at the Andis clippers and see that other experts on this site recommend them as well.  My question is what speed is fast enough to trim the whiskers as well as the hair but still be quiet enough not to scare him.  Which would you recommend,  AGC, Super 2 speed (3400-4400spm) or AGC, 2 speed (2700-3400spm).
Thanks
Craig

Answer
It's not the speed but the sharpness of the blade. A 15 blade should suffice. The higher the number, the closer the shave. Be careful not to run it too long or it will get hot and burn the sensitive face skin. Worse you can cut the skin.
So stretch the skin taught to keep it from being caught in the teeth.
There are alot of clippers but it's all in the technique. Andis is a great product.
