Standard poodle puppy cut

Question
I groom our 5 month old poodle pup myself. Close clip the face, feet, and tail with a #30 clipper blade. For the summer I would like her fur to be shorter. Do you have to hand clip all that shorter or can an electric clipper with a comb or 4F blade be used? If you use a comb attachment what size? I have a 3/8 comb attachment that I put on with a #40 blade and that wouldn't cut through the hair. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Hello Claudia!
For sure you can use a 4F blade to make it shorter, or a guard comb and a 40 blade. you could try using a 1/2 inch guard comb. Or even a #3F blade which is about the same length as the 1/2 inch guard comb. Im not sure why the 3/8 did cut through the hair. Make sure your 40 blade is nice and sharp if you plan to use a guard comb. Typically the guard comb will just rough in the desired length, and lots of scissoring is still required. Not as bad will the #3F or #4F. You will just have to scissor it in to blend it in with the clean feet, etc..  Hope this helps you!! Good luck!
