groom a show dog

Hi There,
im a new groomer, i only groom a pet dog, but now i want to learn how to groom to show dogs, can u explain to me what is Grooming chalks, volumizers and Finishing sprays ? and how to use it in dog show contest ? thanks a lot...

whoa up there... Took me years to learn my breed and you want an answer here? First thing you should do is start going to dog shows and watch the backstage area where dogs are being prepped. Each group of breeds has a different standard. Pick one breed and then look up the standard and when you have an idea of which breed you want to specialize in- and handlers do specialize- then follow the club and see the different ways people use the products. Handlers don't like anyone grooming the dog they show- so where do you think you are going to get show dogs to groom unless you plan on
a. becoming a handler
b. plan on showing your own dog- which is the best way to break into the show world.
All those products you mention have instructions on the packaging - if you know the breed you will be using them on. Pet grooming is NOTHING like show grooming.
when you have a better handle on your goal ask me a more specific question. To lay out answers like that would take volumes of instruction.
