eye and muzzle staining on Havanesse

Hello and thanks for being available to answer my question,my Havanese has increased staining around his eyes, and have been researching Angel Eyes, have been seeing both good and bad reviews. Do you use it? and what is your opinion on the product?

Hi Wendy,
Angel Eyes, as you probably know by now, is an antibiotic. It is the over the counter version of Tylan.
I have had many clients who have used this prescribed version and it does work but Angel eyes is not as powerful and still expensive.
If it were my dog I would want to administer this sort of thing under a vet's care to keep track of any side affects that could occur and for general safety. As I said I know that Tylan works but it is never good to give long term medication for a purely visual effect. If the staining is not terrible you may want to just try changing food or adding a supplement since it is basically a ph problem in bodily secretions and digestive juices of the dog and it's chemical reaction with the atmosphere.
Also you may want to try daily flushing with a saline soloution to clean out the irritants that are causing the problem.
Talk with your vet and make the informed decision.
