Question
I have a border collie/sheltie cross who is covered in sap from two large poplar trees. The sticky seeds stick to her coat and especially her feet. She will pick the seeds out of her feet and she is covered in green and yellow.Do you know how to get it off her the most effective way?

Answer
I had a customer that had a mix breed dog that got into one of the sticky mouse traps. It was a terrible mess. My clipper blades smelled like bubble gum and the more I tried to get it out the more angry I got. I tried ice and peanut butter. The last thing that I tried was WD 40. It removed all the gunk and the dogs feet and hair were totally free from all the sticky substance. I then used dawn dish soap to cleans the feet and coat of all chemicals the WD 40 left, it worked beautifully. Please use caution with the product not to get it near the face of the dog.
You can also use vegetable oil but it may take a few applications to work.
Hope you can get out of your sticky situation.
