grooming puppys face

my 3 month standard poodle is ok with the clippers on his body but jumps around so I can't trim his facial hair. What techniques can I use to calm him down? Do I need a 2nd person to restrain him?

This is not unusual but it takes time practice and patience. Let the puppy get used to the noise and vibration. Wait another month until your puppy trusts you more. Use the table and loop (you have a professional table and setup for this, right?) You are showing the dog, you are confident. Try having it done once professionally while you are watching so the dog recognizes it is safe.
Be prepared to stop and start, have some treats. Do a little at a time. Standards usually learn fast. They are brilliant animals.
