Question
I'm just learning to groom and I have a Maltese I want to shave her for the summer.  What blade would leave her hair the longest.  She doesn't have any knots.  I have an Oster Turbo A5.  .

Hi Deb,

There are some great blades that are available now for longer cuts made by the Andis company. I'll list the 4 longest blades and what length each blade will leave the coat, then you can decide what blade you would like. The 3/4HT blade will leave 3/4 of an inch of hair, 5/8HT will leave 5/8 of an inch, 3 3/4 will leave 1/2 of an inch, and a 4F will leave 3/8 of an inch. If you are wanting to leave more than an inch of hair, you need to use snap-on combs. I use a 40 blade under these combs and they work wonderful for longer cuts. You can order any of these items from a pet supply company such as Petedge, or Ryans.
