Yorkie - - Think Coarse Dark Patches

I have a beautiful 15 month old yorkie with a very nice blonde and silver coat. Just recently we noticed a dark spot on her back.  The spot is coarse hair that is almost black, we call it horse hair.  The spot has gotten larger, darker, and seems as though it's spreading.  We just had her trimmed down b/c we like to keep her hair short and now there are 4 spots.  What is going on?  Is it normal?  Will it go away?

I'm not sure how your question got missed but I'm sorry you've been waiting for an answer!  I answered it once but somehow it didn't get posted.  Anyway ususally these darker areas are from skin issues - clipper burn, scratching etc.  The coat comes in darker and usually more wire like.  Is your dog chewing or scratching a good bit?
