Question
I am wondering if you could list the dog breeds that are non-shedding.  Thank you.
Debbie

Answer
Hi there!
there are a few breeds that are listed as non shedding, but the ones I will tell you about you are going to be safer with.
For instance, some people say that Cocker Spaniels are non shedding, and for the most part, that is true, HOWEVER, many do tend to shed and Cockers many times have doggie odor and dandruff which is very irritating to persons with allergies.

Your VERY best bet is the poodle.  You can get a toy, (under 111 inches at the shoulder) a Miniature (12 to 15 inches at the shoulder) or a Standard, usually 15 to 21 inches).
These dogs are not only non shedding, the consistency of the coat is HAIR, not FUR, so they tend to not have the dandruff, they do not have odors, and they don't' even have breakage.  Their coats are thick and therefore can easily be clipped short if you would like, to avoid trapping other allergens that some people are sensitive to, like dust and pollen.
I personally have 3 toy poodles, they do everything on our farm that big dogs can do, but not so much mess, less expense with flea and vet treatments, etc. I have more dogs and less cost!

But back to your question,
Maltese are nice non shedding dogs, Bichon Frese are nice, alittle bigger than poodles. Both of these dogs are white, so you must be careful of sunburn and some of these dogs tend to have skin sensitivities to pollen and harsh shampoos, grass, etc.

Yorkies are nice dogs, but they are hard to potty train.

Old English Sheep dogs do not shed, they are much larger and require lots of care for their coats and skin.

ANY short hair dog will shed a LOT. Do not be fooled into getting a short haired dog, they shed worse than anything else! Beagles, labs, etc.

Your "designer breeds" the new crosses of Labs and poodles, (labradoodles) Cock a Poos, (Cocker and Poodle) do not go that route, each puppy gets different genetics and some will shed and some will not. Even ONE puppy may shed part of it's coat and not the other part of its coat!

Portuguese water dogs do not shed, they are nice dogs.  Some schnauzers do not shed, but some do, as they are wire coated terrier types, I would stay away from those if you want a non shedding dog.
They are like Westies and Scotties, they do shed.

All of the setters and retrievers shed, all collies and shepards, any hound will shed a ton.

So, I hope I have helped you.
The list for a CERTAIN non shedding dog that sustains its coat all year and does have HAIR not FUR would be
Poodles
Bichon Frese
Yorkshire terrier.
Maltese
Old English Sheep dog

Of course there are also the Chinese Crested and Mexican Hairless, but those dogs skin require great care, and I do not recommend them as they tend to have dandruff and dry skin problems.

Good luck
