grooming a terrier/laso apso mix

Hello:  I would like to know if there is a particular pattern of shaving down this breed.  We do this about every three months.  We live in San Diego, California so it is warm here mostly. We take her to a groomer but would like to save the expense right now, Also her face grows really fast and I hand clip around her eyes, I just don't think I do it right.  A little advice please.

Hi Karen,
Since my sister lives southeast of San Diego I am familiar with your climate.
Best advice is to look at youtube.com and see if there is a video for puppy cuts in the mixed breed section. All puppy cuts are basically the same. You will have to invest in the clipper and equipment so it may not be the cost efficient solution that you are looking for. At least to start off with.
Better to just have the dog shaved down short for the summer and keep it that way until next fall- Oct-Nov. It is certainly cheaper than spending all that money on clippers scissors and stuff. If you keep it really short until then you can let it grow out over the winter- feb/march- and you can practice according to those videos.
