Question
How do I tell how much to clip off of the toe nail without cutting into the quick of the nail?

Answer
If you look at my past answers you should find a good detailed answer to this question.  It's hard to say without actually seeing the nail because quick length varies for every dog.  If you take just a tiny bit off at a time you should eventually see a black dot in the center of the nail and that is when you know to stop because that is where the quick begins.  If you take her to the groomer or vet they should be able to show you how to do it and show you where the quick is on your dog so that you will be able to do it yourself, good luck.
