Sheered coat

My enthusiastic but inexperienced daughter tried out her new dog grooming tools on my long hair retriever-chow.  The result is a disasterous sheered sheep look.  How long does it take for a dog to grow back her normal coat?

Some dogs grow coats out faster than others, since your dog has a longer coat ( I assume from the breeds involved), it will take about 6 months to a year. A good rule of thumb is 1/8 inch a week.  By next fall, the dogs coat will be grown out and it will be prepared for winter again!
