Question
I took my dog to the groomer and she used a new tool called a Rake N Vac on her. When I came to pick her up I was shocked. The dog had lost 2" to 5" off her coat length.
The groomer says she did not cut her and the tool just pulls out undercoat.
So...question.
Have you ever used or heard of this tool?
Does a dog lose this much coat length is you are just pulling undercoat?
How long will it take to grow back the top coat?
My dog was well groomed before she went in; there were no mats. She merely needed a bath and I was hoping she would lose the last of her loose undercoat before winter and the new one started.

Answer
I have heard of this tool and it shouldn't take away from your dogs coat length, it should just make her hair less thick considering it gets rid of any loose or dead undercoat.  5" is alot and I don't see how a de-shedder could make your dog lose length like that especially if she really was already well groomed.  Did you tell her you wanted just a bath and brush? However much you paid should reflect how much work was done.  The price of a haircut should be significantly higher than the price of a bath.  Let me know if you have anymore questions.
