is it still alright for me to clip a 9 month boxer's ears and tails??

I wouldn't suggest it.  It's not necessary and the healing process might take longer and be more painful since he is more active than a newborn. This link has info on docking.  It ultimately comes down to your personal preference but if it were my dog I wouldn't want to put him through the pain.
