Cavoodle Puppy Hair Cut

Question
QUESTION: I took my 15 week old Cavoodle (cavalier x poodle) to the groomers for a pre christmas wash and trim, I even showed her a photo of my pup when she was 11 weeks old and asked for a light "trim" as she looked in the photo the groomer even held my puppys fur between her fingers as we agreed on the length. I left her there for an hour and was horrified when I went to pick her up that she has shaved her coat using # 4 comb all over( its now less that 1/2 inch long)and shaved without a comb over her face, eyes and on her head between her ears...I cried and cannot believe some one could do something like that, please tell me how long it will take to grow back and if this will affect her coat in any way. She is an inside puppy and am very aware if she goes outside to keep her shaded so she doesn't get a sun burn. Any information as well as how I can promote a healthy, quick regrowth would be appreciated. I am absolutely devastated!. P.S: I did let the groomer know what I thought and refused to pay - but of course this isn't much help now!!

ANSWER: OK-the good news is it will grow back- 8 weeks it will start to look a bit fluffy. #4 is not as short as it could have been. This is like a poodle puppy cut.
Sounds to me like you know the lingo of a groomer so why not try to do this yourself. If you understand that you want a puppy cut - get yourself a clipper and a body blade and go to town. You want it long- use a zero body blade snapped onto 40 blade. Scissor the feet and the face  and your done. Lots of brushing for the poodle cross.
I think your problem was not insisting it only be scissored. You usually get what you pay for.
Had you ever used this place before? Was this person new to the biz? Did the person you talked to even end up grooming the dog?  I am assuming the dog wasn't matted which is usually the reason a dog gets shaved but if it was, they did the right thing to shave rather than torture a 15 week old pup with dematting. Where are you that you need to be worried about sunburn this time of year? Put a t shirt on if you're in a warm client.
You have a mixed breed- who knows what the coat would have been like in the first place. The breeds are opposite in hair type- don't have a clue what is expected out of that combination. It's not like it has standard so don't worry too much. You do have to do maintenance in between, however so start brushing in a few weeks.
It will grow back and grow
and grow
and grow...
good luck!

QUESTION: Sorry I didn't state where I am from, I was worried about sunburn as i am in Australia and it is summer here. BTW my Pup was not matted as she allowed me to brush her coat daily. Now there is nothing to brush I can't even grab it with my fingers.....

Answer
