QuestionI have a white poodle that is 1 year old, weighs 9 pounds and right around 10 inches at her front shoulder. The groomer said that because she has "freckles" or gray spots on her belly she is not a poodle. Both of her parents are white and are AKC registered. Is the groomer correct?
AnswerHello Lily,
No, your groomer is wrong. Some white Poodles that have a black or different colored parent have spotted or mottled skin, though the hair grows in white. I have seen several white poodles in my grooming practice that have off-colored spots on them and they are also full-bred poodles.
Thanks for your question and if I can help further, please feel free to ask.
