QuestionWhat color are champagne standards usually when they are puppies? I am thinking of buying a puppy that is a silver looking with a honey color base coat. The seller says she will be champagne as she matures.
AnswerHello Amy,
I had a Champagne Standard a few years ago and he was gorgeous as a puppy. He was a dark Apricot color with black highlights (ears, top knot, down his back and on his tail). At about a year old, he started fading (Champagne is a fading color) and his color turned more of a cream color. You can see a picture of my boy, Hunter, at this site, he is the second pic down.

You can find pictures of a Champagne at this site. They have pictures of all the colors with descriptions of what the colors should look like.

The color you are describing sounds more like a Silver-Beige or a Cafe Au Lait. Also know that if a puppy is Silver at this young age, it will likely get lighter as it ages because Silver is a fading color. Most Silver puppies are Black at birth and totally turn Silver by age 2. If you have a picture of this puppy, you can send it to my e-mail addy MsTopkdog@yahoo.com and I will look at her for you.
Take a look at those websites and if you have any questions/concerns/comments for me, please feel free to ask.
