breeding mini poodles

Question
We have an eight month old male min. poodle that we just love.  My husband and I would like to buy a female and begin to breed poodles.  How would we find some info about how to start a small breeding business?

Answer
Frankly, I am much more interested in discouraging breeding than helping.  Yours is one of the few questions on breeding I choose to answer.  Unlike so many others, you actually realize there is more to it than just getting a male and a female.  There are those that have done so little research, that they come here to ask at what point in a females cycle she should be bred.

Responsible breeding requires extensive preparation.  One book I know is good is Successful Dog Breeding, by Chris Walkowicz, DMV.  There is some great material at http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/articles.html#breeding  If you decide doing breeding right requires more than you believed it would, I hope you will just go ahead and neuter him.  If you really love Yorkies, look into rescue work.  You may
