QUESTION: Hello
I have a 4 month toy poodle(17 weeks) and his weight is 1.9 kilo. Is it normal weight for him?How much do you think should be his weight as adult?
Many thanks for your response.
Ivana

ANSWER: Hello Ivana,
Your Tommy is a Handsome boy.  Your dog looks like he is in good weight right now for his size, though its hard to determine whats normal for each individual dog because each dog grows differently.  Enviromental factors also play a part in how a dog grows and matures.  Weight can be determined by how much he eats and the way the body processes the food, by the amount of exercise he gets, stress levels and health and his genetic background.  This can also affect his full weight as an adult.
I would expect that given the information that you gave me, your boy could be around 3.18-3.86 at full weight.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions/comments/concerns for me about this, or other Poodle questions in general, please feel free to ask.

QUESTION: Hi Kim
Thank you much for your quick response. I am very much looking forward to see him growing up :). I give him EMINENT puppy dog food but if you have any recommendation which kind of food/granulas(brand) would be the best for him, please let me know.
Thank you
Ivana

Answer
Hello again,
As long as the dog food you feed your dog contains wholesome and healthy ingredients your puppy should do ok on it.  When I recommend a food brand I tell people to look for an ingredient list that isn't too long, because you don't want alot of fillers in the food.  Foods range from the cheap "supermarket brands" to the high priced organic foods with everything from chicken and beef to exotic meats such as salmon, buffalo, duck or elk.  Buying the higher priced foods won't insure that your dog is going to be more healthy than other dogs, but it does make the owner feel better.  Most of the foods out there are going to be fine for your dog, as they contain a balanced diet of meat, grains and vegetables, vitamins and nutrients.

If the food you are feeding now is working for your dog, I would keep feeding it.  Switching foods can cause stomach upset in most puppies.

Thanks again for your post and if you have other questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.

Kim
