2 yr old spayed female toy poodle has a strong odor

I have a 2yr old spayed female toy poodle.  She has a strong odor.  She was washed 2 days ago.  I was wondering if she might me in heat.  Could that be the odor that I smell?

Hello Cynthia,
If your dog is spayed, she shouldn't be able to come into heat.  Some female dogs can get an odor on them that is caused by hormones.  You can try washing your dog with the skunk spray remedie to see if it helps any.

You use 1/4 part Water and 3/4 part Hydrogen Peroxide in a small bottle.  Don't fill it all the way up.  Add 2 tsp of Baking Soda and enough dish soap (like Dawn or Ivory) to make suds, about 2-3 tablespoons depending on the size of the bottle.  Cover the top with your thumb and give it a gentle shake; use within 20 min after you make it.  Throw out what you don't use and don't store it in a closed bottle or it will explode out the top.  
Again, use conditioner afterwards because it can strip the hair and leave it dry.  

If she doesn't smell better after the bath, you might take her to your Vet to see if its an internal infection in her bladder or uterine tract.
