Miniature Poodle Tail Docking

Hi, My miniature poodle bitch is about to give birth any day now.
I know tails and dewclaws have to be done by 3 days old.
I was wondering about tail docking. I will be banding them ( instead of cutting )
How long should the tails be after docking? Thanks.

Do not use banding.  You will create nerve damage in the tails and the dogs will end up chasing their tails.  Also hair does not grow properly on the tip of the tail when banded.  If you dont feel comfortable cutting then take them into the vet and have him do them.  If you dont want to do that then leave them full length.  Man people are starting to like the full length.  I have a male standard with a full length tail.  I have had quite a few people ask me not to dock.
FOr show length tails you should only take 1/4-1/3 of the total length off.
