Obesity and Bad Breath

My toy poodle is approximately 4 years old.  He just keeps getting fatter and fatter and his breath is stinking worse than usual.  He is also hot(panting) all the time.  He eats the same amount of food or less than my other house dogs, and they are normal weight.  Any ideas what could be wrong?  He is not lethargic....in fact, he still wants to play and be as active as ever.

If he is gaining weight on normal food then get him on a high quality diet food.  This means you will have to feed him seperately.  Absoluetly NO TABLE SCRAPS!!!!!  When treating him use only his dog food.  Toy poodles are notorious for bad breath.  You need to get him in and have his teeth cleaned.  You might also think about having him tested for diabetes while you are at it.  That would explain the weight gain.  But you really need to get his weight down.  So find a weight loss formula food and get him out more to exercise.
