Question
can i breed a female toy poodle with a toy male.  they are both my pets and i want to know for the future.

Answer
Hello Diane,
Actually it is prefered to breed like sized Poodles to each other.  Many people will breed a Miniature Poodle to a Toy Poodle hoping to get puppies of each size.  This (in my opinion) is wrong to do because it contaminates the purity of the different sizes.  You then end up with large Toy Poodles or small Miniature Poodles and the sizes intermingle rather than staying seperate varieties.  You should be sure that your Poodles are at least 2 before breeding them (to give their bodies a chance to mature fully) and they should both receive a Pre-Breeding Health Check to insure that both dogs are healthy and that the female is fit enough to conceive and carry a litter to term.  Plus it can help determine that your dogs are free from genetic diseases that could be passed from parent to puppy.  Other than that, you should be able to breed your two dogs when the time comes and be assured of a healthy litter.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions for me, or would like advice once the breeding has taken place, please feel free to ask.
