Ssouri
My boy Ssouri is 12 weeks old now.  I am so confused about his coloring.  Based on this picture can you give me best guess as to how he may end up?  Do you think his ears will always be a different color than the rest of him?  Maybe end up same color as his face?

Thank You,

Kathy

Answer
Hello Kathy,
Your Poodles color is what they call Champagne.  It is a Cream or Apricot color, usually highlighted with Black on the ears, tail and down the back.  Because the coat color is an Apricot or Cream, it typically fades as the dog gets older.  Sometimes if you shave the black off the ears or back it may not come back.  The hair on his back may eventually turn the color of his feet, and the black may fade whether or not you shave or trim it.

He is a very handsome boy and I hope he keeps his color for awhile.  On average, you will notice the fading after their first haircut, and continue gradually fading over their entire lifespan, though it becomes less gradual as they get older.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions about Ssouri, or other Poodle questions in general, please feel free to ask.
