My Poodle Smells terrible

Question
I adopted a miniature poodle last summer and she was great.  She is 1.5 years old.  A few months ago she was attacked by a pitt bull and had a couple of surgeries to repair wounds and a dislocated hip.  Her wounds have healed and her hip is getting better every day.  After over 2 months, she is finally touching her back leg to the ground.  The problem now is I have noticed a terrible smell on her over the last couple of months.  It's worst when she scratches or shakes.  The sour smell is getting on her bed and we don't even want to touch her anymore..  It was not there before.  Thanks

Answer
Hello Penny,
There are a couple of things you can do to help get the smell off your dog.  The first treatment you can use is the remedy used for skunk smell. You will want to make just enough to do the dog, because you can't store this mix in a closed container.  It will explode the top off the bottle.  For a dog your dogs size, I would use:
1 cup of Water
1/2 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide
1 1/2 tbs Baking Soda
Enough Dish Soap to lather dog (if you use concentrated dish soap you will need to use less than if you use regular soap) About 3 tbs.

You can also use a product called "Filthy Animal" shampoo from Kelco that you can get it at Amazon.com  Find it here:http://www.amazon.com/Kelco-Filthy-Animal-Cleaning-Shampoo/dp/B001KPEF0K
It is known for being able to take care of skunk smells, grease and oils and dirty matted coats.  It is concentrated and you break it down 50 parts water to 1 part shampoo.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions about this or other Poodle questions in general, please feel free to ask.
