Poodle with lumps

Question
Hiya Kathryn. I asked you for some advice a few weeks ago about my minature poodle who was in pain and you were brilliant. I know have a new problem and I'm pretty scared. I was up all last night just watching him.

My min poodle is 9 years old and a great little guy but hes overweight. He has a enlarged heart and "harsh" lungs. I noticed a few weeks ago a lump under his armpit which was very small but the vet didnt seem concerned. He told me to bring him back straight away if it grows or I notice anything else. Well last night the lump has grown massive. Its very big and hard. Its under his left armpit and slighty to the side. I felt around him a bit and I found a tiny lump, exactly the same as the large one but very tiny, on his chest lower down and one on his neck. Im not 100 percent sure but I oculd also feel something around/underneath his right armpit. He seems ok in himself but does sleep alot but luckily hes eating fine. Im worried this might be lymphoma. Ive done research on the internet and everything points to that. Maybe Im being paranoid because I love him so much but I dont know. Do you think this could be lymphoma?

Also, hes coming out in lots of little red/white warts that are very hard like stones. He has 2 on his back, 1 on his foot (was removed by vet, 1 on his neck and another underneath his ear and his final one is above his eye. Is this a poodle thing? Is it related to lymphoma? Im pretty sure hes had about 4 new warts appearing in the last 2/3weeks.

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Trisha,

I'm honestly not sure WHAT it is, but if I was you, I'd get to the vet ASAP. It could be benign, or it could be a problem. Either way, for your piece of mind (if not your wallet)I'd get it checked out.  Dogs tend to sleep quite a bit (believe it or not 12-16 hours a day!) but it is also something animals do if in pain.  I am not trying to be an alarmist, but please get him checked out.  (If you would be so kind as to let me know at kathrynks@aol.com how he is, I'd sure appreciate it!).

I wish I could be more definitive, but not being there I just don't know. The rash is probably an allergy to something, but while you're there for the lumps, I'd have the vet check that too.

My prayers are with you and your 'li'l guy'.

Kathryn
