my poodles eyes

Question
Recently one of my poodle's eyes turned rather opaque at the pupil. My dad said that it was from malnutrition, though I find that to be bull. We feed her a cup a day (she's a standard/miniature poodle mix) which is the amount the doctor told us to feed her. We have been feeding her this amount for a while. I believe the cause of the opaqueness is because recently she scratched up her left eye and it bled a bit... Not the eye but her eyelids.

What do you think?

Answer
Hi Summer,

It could be as you say, or it could be a cataract.  I'd suggest a visit to the vet just to be sure. It could be nothing, but it also could be something that threatens the vision in the eye.  If she scratched her eyelid, it also could have picked up a bacterial infection of sorts that could be easily transmitted to the eye itself.  There are several possibilities. Not knowing your dog or seeing her (and especially my not being a vet) I can't be sure, but I am sure a visit to your vet wouldn't be a wasted one.

Good luck to you and your poodle!
