Standard Poodle-front leg shakes

Question
Hi.  A week ago we brought home two 4-mo old standard poodles from the same litter.  One was the runt and is dramatically different than the other, healthy one.  She can't close her mouth all the way (we have read about teeth perhaps pushing up into gums), she's lethargic, she can't or doesn't raise her tail up all the way, and most worrisome is her front left leg shakes and sometimes she collapses rather than just sitting or laying down.  She does play sometimes, and she'll go on walks, but just doesn't act like a puppy.  We've read about Addison's, but what do you think?  Thanks for your time!

Answer
Hello Angela,
I have been checking around to see if I can find anything that sounds close to the signs that your female is exibiting.  At first it sounded like Meningitis, but after invasive reading, I ruled that out.  It also doesn't sound like Addisons, as there is no vomiting or diahrrea, and in Addisons Disease, the dogs Adrenal glands don't work which causes the dog to go into shock when they get stressed out.

It sounds to me like a spinal issue, or even a neurological issue.  I would get a Vet check, and inform the breeder that there might be a problem with the puppy.  Find out if they will either help pay for medical costs, or give you a replacement puppy.  Alot of quality breeders will have a Health Guarntee good for several months after you purchase your puppy.

I hope this helps some and if you have other questions about this, or other Poodle questions in general, please feel free to ask.

Thanks for using AllExperts.com,
Kim

I will continue searching for anything that sounds like what your puppy is going through and will let you know if I find anything else out.
