Question
Hi I have a red toy poodle he will be 1 year's old 6-13-2012. One testicle has fallen already month's ago, but the other has not. Please help me figure out what to do please. I read that it might fall after he mates for the first time but I'm not really sure. Or is it stuck some how please help. THANK YOU

Answer
Hello Renee,
It is up to you if you want to wait or not, but it would be a good idea to get him an x-ray to determine if the other testicle is present or not.  If it is, surgery is possible to drop it.  If it is not, neutering is the best option so that he doesn't pass this condition on to other puppies.  I wouldn't wait more than 3 months.  Your dog has a higher risk of testicular cancer when one testicle is retained.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions about this for me, or other questions in general, please feel free to ask me.
