Toy Poodles licking hind quarters often

I've have my toy poodle (5yrs) old anal area cleaned and she still licks too often.  she must be in discomfort!  Poor thing! Was given medication once but it did not help. what could be the problem?  Help please. thank you

If your dog just recently got her anal glands done, they can still be a bit irritated from the squeezing which may be bothering her a bit.  You might also have her checked for worms as some dogs can get a worm that is invisible to the human eye.  They irritate the anus, causing the dog to itch and lick its rear.  You can take an stool sample in to your Vet and they can check.  
The other thing that could be bothering her is irritation after her being groomed.  Sometimes a groomer will shave the hair around the anus too short and this can cause Razor Burn, which causes the dog to lick the area.  When they lick themselves, this in itself can cause irritation which causes the dog to lick more.  It can be a vicious cycle of them licking and irritating the area, then licking it more.  If its just itching that is cauing her to lick herself, you can try Benedryl cream to help with the itching, but once you put the cream on you want to make sure that she doesn't lick herself until the cream has a chance to sink in a bit.
