Color fading in Red Toy Poodles

Question
Hi, I notice that white hairs are sprouting in my 1.5 year old red toy poodle recently.  Is there any way that I could prevent her color from fading further or restore the color?  I started giving her Solid Gold Seameal and Meramin supplements and have been using a shampoo for apricot coats since puppy hood.  Appreciate if you could advise if anything else could be done.  Thanks!

Answer
Hello Rosa,
There isn't much you can do to help the color of your Red puppy.  Red is a fading gene caused by mixing White or Cream into the Bloodline when it was first established.  Red breeders have been trying since the Reds were introduced to get the Red to not fade as much, but haven't been able to as of yet.
Shampoos and "red inducing" foods will maybe help a little, but won't ultimately stop the fading process.
Sorry I couldn't give you better hope.  I also have a wonderful Red Standard who has now faded to a Red/Apricot color.  I still love him as much as the day he was born, but he also was almost an Irish Setter Red when he was born.  Thats a fading color for ya.

If you have other questions/comments/concerns for me, please feel free to ask.
