Question
Hi, I would like to get an apricot or red toy poodle but people say they have more eye problems. Is it true? What colour should i get?

Answer
Hello Lea,
I have been either raising Red Standard Poodles or dealing with friends who have bred Red Standards for around 10 years or so and they have never had eye problems before.  I have seen the White poodles get the tear stains around the eyes and sometimes have medical eye problems though due to bad breeding.  Eye problems tend to be caused by either the mother or father having eye problems and passing it on to the puppies.

I would go ahead and get a Red or Apricot Poodle if that is what you want, just be sure to check with the parents of the puppy and see how their eyes are.  You may also see if the breeder will give you a health guarntee in case something comes up.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions for me, please feel free to ask.
