Question
Hi, i was wondering.. Are smaller litters like 3-4 puppies healthier than a larger litter? And what's the average weight of a newborn miniature poodle?

Thank you for your time, and I appreciate your answer.

Answer
Hello Kathy,
I wouldn't say that a larger litter vs a smaller litter is more healthy, but with a smaller litter, the puppies can eat better and don't have to compete for food etc. as much as in a larger litter.  Its a bit harder on the female for her to have a large litter because everything that the puppies need they get from her, but as long as you are taking good care of the mother, she should do alright.

The average weight of a newborn Miniature puppy is around 6 oz or so.  I have seen smaller or larger though.  It all depends on how many are in the litter (because fewer puppies means more room to grow) and how much nutrients they are getting from their mother.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions for me, please feel free to ask.
