toy poodles strange poops!

Question
Hello! I have a healthy (at least, I thought), energetic, friendly toy poodle. He is about 8 months old, neutered, and raw fed. I recently noticed that his feces have become a bit thin looking (not "thin" as in watery, I mean skinny) and often too dry. There is no bleeding, he's eating, and he doesn't have any abdomenal swelling or tenderness. I had given him some of that commercial frozen raw dog food, because I wanted him to experience venison and it's not readily available where I live. I gave him chicken last night, and that seemed to help a bit. I have also cut down a bit on his raw bone intake. Is there any congenital defect that could cause his feces to appear skinny? I've tried searching online, but have found nothing similar. Thanks!

Answer
Hello Dana,
The only thing I could think of that would cause small poops would be the fact that there may be less filler in the venison that you fed your dog.  Fillers are found in most commerical dog foods and can be anything from spare animal parts to cardboard.  They will cause your dog to have larger bowel movements to rid the body of the filler.
Venison is less dense than chicken, beef or other more regular meats and if you didn't give your dog the bones, then his stool would be smaller than when you give your dog the other meats and bone.

If you are unsure about it, take a sample in to your Vet to have it checked for anything abnormal.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions, please feel free to ask.
