Question
hello and thank you for this wonderful site.
I have a standard poodle who is about 3 years old.  She is having her period
at this time, but the night before last night she had a terrible bloody bowel
movement ..i took away all treats such as pig ears..greenies..and kibble and
gave her soft rice soft chicken and yogurt and some bio k..and lots of water.
i have fed her this now for 2 days and the problem seems to have stopped
but tonight i noticed her ears were twitching non stop.  she has become very
quiet and just rests allot..i am very worried
once again thank you

Answer
Hello Sheena,
I am no Vet, but your dog could have a case of intestinal parasites (worms) and you need to get her checked by a Vet.
It could just be that her body is tired and trying to rest and heal itself, but it could also be something more serious.

Make sure she is drinking and eating and having good BM's.  If you feel comfortable, you can take her tempature.  Use a digital one, and insert it rectally.  A dogs normal temp is 101.5F
If she isn't feeling good, it can be as high as 103.5

Let me know if you have other questions for me.
There are also Vets listed on this site that you can consult, you might give them a try.
