Toy Poodle Puppy Training Treats

Question
Hi,
Can you recommend a good training treat for my toy poodle puppy? Because she's only 2.9lbs, so most treats are huge in her little mouth and just having a few of them is like a whole meal. I need something that's small and yummy; something that's made for small breed puppies.

Answer
Hello Ashton,
The thing I like to use best with dogs and puppies is hot dog slices.  You can microwave them to dry them out some and to help perserve them, and they store great in a zip-loc bag.  Bil-Jac makes a liver-type snack that is soft and formed and these can be broken into bite sized pieces.
I like to put the treat in my hand and hold it so that just a piece is sticking out of my fist (make a fist and hold the treat with your thumb and first finger).  When the dog does something I want her to do, I let her nibble at the treat in my fingers but not eat the whole treat.  It makes the treat last longer, and she still gets a reward.
Give that a try and if you have other questions or still want a special treat made for small dogs, please feel free to write me back.
